ABOUT ME
Hi, My name is Liya Shiferaw! I’m a triple threat performer from Denver, Colorado. I’m a Junior at Denver School of the Arts, I spend my extra time collaborating with students my age to create art and support each others artistry.
Though Ive been a performer my whole life, when I was 15 I was handed the opportunity to work with a completely student ran theater company under the name New Generation Productions. Being able to witness others taking initiative with their artistry made me embrace my artistic voice ten fold. Since then Every move i make. is to invest in my craft and show up for myself and others. Since then I’ve worked with other student led Productions; most recently being Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes Written and directed by Lyla Eidson. Being in these productions have shown me that art goes so far with collaboration and care.
As a performer i’ve worked on a wide range productions at school and out-side of the classroom. My favorite roles include, Lucy Gray Baird in Songbirds and Snakes, Gussie Carnegie in Merrily We Roll Along, and Fate in Hadestown.
Outside of performing is were my caring personality shines through. I volunteer for Young Artists for Equity, teaching art at under resourced elementary schools, and find interest in watching my mother embark on hr medical career inspiring me care for people in all ways- especially in my art.
